The federal Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 (PL 108-265) includes a provision requiring all school districts participating in any federally funded child nutrition program to establish a school wellness policy by the beginning of the 2006-07 school year. The Federal Child Nutrition and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Reauthorization Act of 2004 mandates each district participating in the National School Lunch Program or the Child Nutrition Act of 1966, including the School Breakfast Program, to adopt a district wide school wellness policy with specified components by the beginning of the school year after July 2006. The following policy fulfills this mandate and should be revised to reflect district practice.
